कपड़े धोने वाला पाउडर का इस्तेमाल घर - घर में होता है, पर बहुत लोग सेहत पर इससे होने वाले नुकसान से अनजान हैं |डिटर्जेट में मेल हटाने वाले रसायन होते हैं | इन डिटर्जेटों का इस्तेमाल कपड़े धोने व बर्तन धोने में किया जाता है | इससे कपड़े और बरतन तो चमचमा जाते हैं, पर यह सेहत के लिए खतरनाक साबित हो सकते है | सस्ते व घटिया डिटर्जेट में एसिड आदि का प्रयोग किया जाता है जिसमे सबसे ज्यादा नुकसान त्वचा को होता है | इनसे होने वाली एलर्जी से न सिर्फ हाथों पर असर पड़ सकता है बल्कि आंखें व लंग्स भी प्रभावित हो सकते हैं | खराब किस्म के पाउडर से हाथों में जलन व खुजली पैदा होने लगती है | कई बार तो चकत्ते और फफोले तक पद जाते है | 

यहीं नहीं हाथों की चमक व नमी भी खत्म होने लगती है | कभी - कभी तो हाथों में दरारें पड जाती हैं | मां बनने वाली महिलाओं के शिशुाओं पर भी इन डिटर्जेट का खतरा बढ़ जाता है | यह डिटर्जेट अस्थमा व दिल के मरीजों को भी नुकसान पहुंचा सकता है | इनकी गंध एलर्जी पैदा क्र सकती है | शेम्पू के रूप में इस्तेमाल में लाए जाने वाले डिटर्जेटों से सिर की त्वचा भी प्रभावित हो सकती है | कपड़ों से पूरी तरह से पाउडर न निकलने के कारण यह शरीर पर रेसेज व खुजली भी दे सकते हैं | डिटर्जेट के इस्तेमाल से अन्य और भी कई तरह की परेशानियों हो सकती हैं |
