Budalakhad's dry

Narayan Das Niranjan was a big farmer on any scale. In Bundelkhand, he had 16 acres of land in Garhad village of Urai tehsil of Jalna district. His village is said to be rich in his district. Narayana Das lived a farmer from his village only a few miles away from Garhad. Narayana had three bigha land near Minangi village in Madhodhad tehsil. They were counted among marginal farmers. The only names of those two farmers were not the same, luck also played with them the same game. Both have been victims of drought continuously for the past five years in Bundelkhand. With the passing of time, agricultural crisis is increasing due to lack of water, falling water level and drought. Despite all the efforts, when the canal water was not reached to their farms, both the farmers were so disappointed by their crop that they died from heart attack. Despite the number of canals near their respective villages, they have not reached water till their fields. If seen on a technical basis, this is not a case of suicide, but the deeply agrarian crisis has killed him.See the irony that this tragedy is the result of the entire humanity's own activities. This is the result of such defective agricultural policy, which was imposed without regard to compatibility, necessity and consistency. With this continuous neglect of farmers, apathy, uncontrolled corruption, massive destruction of environmental destruction and increasing felony witnessed the great historical past, the land of this region has become shabby. Sometimes this area was enriched. This area, now based on agriculture, comprising seven districts, now sees the graveyard of Uttar Pradesh.Six districts of neighboring Madhya Pradesh also come to Bundelkhand. The condition of those six districts is also poor. Regardless of the way the state government decides to deny it, it is a fact that the farmers of Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh have been pushed to the margins and many of them have been victims of starvation. Hundreds of farmers from Bundelkhand are making a safe passage of escape to avoid being insulted due to the increased burden of debt. The Sukkhor Mahajan is paying tribute to the farmers for recovery. The rural banks and co-operative banks of the district are also twisting their arms for loan collection. It is not surprising that most farmers have no choice but to give their lives.Farmers of Bundelkhand, who are trapped in the tragedy, are fleeing towards Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai and Haryana in search of livelihood. Farmers' views being taken out of the area by filling in trucks like animals are common here. Bundelkhand's condition is so bad that he is lying on death bed. Although this area has not always been the same. Kudrat has never been so cruel with her. Bundelkhand had average rainfall. But in the past few decades the indiscriminate harvesting of forests has ruined the environment. The lack of water conservation measures and the indifference towards the traditional methods of water collection have further enhanced this crisis. In fact, the water crisis in this area has become so deep that the fear of affecting drinking water supply has become strong. There is a dispersal of the valleys of the Bundelkhand, which is a refuge for the infamous dacoits.Instead of curbing the growing deserts, the forest department had sprayed air of commercial acacia seeds a few years ago. This foreign species, unfavorable for the geographical conditions of Bundelkhand, has now become a threat to the region. Instead of learning any lesson from this crisis, the cultivation of mentha in this area is being encouraged. Farmers are cultivating the same rich farmers, who have sufficient means of irrigation. Without thinking that a kilogram of Menthol oil is used in the production of 1.2 million liters of water, its cultivation of farming is proving suicide. The ground water level is constantly falling down. It will not be said that Bundelkhand is in dire need of a development policy which is based on conventional methods of water conservation. This policy should be implemented in two parts. In the first phase, there should be an immediate action plan to solve the crisis and in the second phase, the policy of Dighi Uday should be announced for the agriculture sector. As long as the tanker mafia is not curbed and farmers are not encouraged to conserve water, then the problem of continuous drought will be severe.Traditionally, every village in Bundelkhand had at least five ponds in the periphery, which have now disappeared. In addition, there were five wells in every village. Due to the breakdown of ponds and wells, this agrarian crisis has arisen. Now it is necessary that instructions have been given to the nationalized banks to provide financial assistance to the Gram Panchayats for the development of traditional means of irrigation.

Farming also needs to change its position. Cultivation of coarse cereals and pulses should be encouraged instead of high quantities of water, chemical fertilizers and advanced seeds. Organic farming methods that need to be used for minimal use of external resources need to be made prevalent. The Uttar Pradesh government should declare separate agriculture policy for Bundelkhand, which will not harm the environment and ecology of this region. This policy is required to be connected with animal husbandry and forestry.Ninety percent of farmers and rural population are moaning under the burden of debt. Therefore, to make Bundelkhand prosperous again, farmers should consider giving credit forgiveness. The Karnataka government has recently waived their debts to protect its distressed farmers. However, it is necessary for strong political will to do all this. Since the ruling party of the province had started its political journey from Bundelkhand, hence it is the proper time to start a new era of social engineering in that area to repay its debt.
