Rajasthan has been a backward state due to its geographical conditions. Nearly 61% of the state is covered with mercury, which is often very low and the circumstances of the vahaa can not make positive contribution in the establishment of the industries. That is why in the state of independence, the economy was nothing but negligible.During the formation of Rajasthan, there were only 11 big industries - 7 cotton textiles, 2 cement and sugar industries and 207 registered factories. In the year 1978, district industrial centers were set up under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
